Invite me to your office, classroom, or space to lead a bookbinding workshop! I have worked with corporate teams, youth groups, and elementary school classrooms. I currently don’t have a workshop space that I can provide. If you’re unsure whether a bookbinding workshop will be a good fit or have creative ideas for a workshop, get in touch with me via email bittermelonbindery[at]gmail.com.
Coptic Bookbinding is characterized by exposed chain stitches on the spine and is suitable for thicker books. Participants will complete a hardcover, 60 page journal made with Japanese papers for the covers and recycled dotted paper for the pages. Learning this stitch is the most intensive out of the ones I teach and typically requires 2.5-3 hours per workshop. Capacity: up to 8 participants. Best for youth over 13 or adults, and if participants have motor skill difficulties, the stitch is doable with assistance.
Pamphlet Stitch is ideal for classrooms, big groups, and events because it’s a fun and easy introduction to the Bookbinding craft. Once learned, it can take less than 10 minutes to make a booklet. Participants will complete a softcover, 20-30 page notebook made with recycled papers for the cover and pages, and Japanese papers for design. Capacity: up to 2 combined classrooms (~50 students) or a bookbinding craft station at an event.
